Abscess
The abscess is a medical condition where there is a collection of pus, the dead neutrophils. The pus gets accumulated in the body cavities that are formed by the infected tissues. The injured tissues form cavities in the body. The pus is formed in these cavities. The pus is basically due to the defensive mechanism of the body. Abscess is mostly seen in skins surface, where the pustules may occur. Deep skin abscess can be seen in lungs, teeth, brain, tonsils and kidney. The abscess can be fatal, though rarely.

The abscess is the reaction of the defensive mechanism of the body. The foreign bodies like infections that are caused by the bacteria or parasites. The defense mechanism of the body kills these bacteria and virus and lead to development of pus. Staphylococcus aureus can lead to this disease.

The wound abscess requires surgical intervention, curettage and debridement. Antibiotics such as flucloxacillin and dicloxacillin are used for treating abscess caused due to Staphylococcus aureus. Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, Doxycycline and Clindamycin are also administered nowadays to fight against the MRSA resistant virus. |
